Picture the scene, it's the 27th of December, the turkey is almost finished and you're about ready to stop sitting around. This happens every year and there's almost always a family debate about what you should do. This year, why not skip the debate and head out to one of Scotland's freshest beer bars, taprooms or kitchens and extend the festivities just that wee bit longer.
â Aberdeen - Fierce Bar
Aberdeen's Fierce bar is, of course, owned by local brewers, Fierce. A brand new establishment, the bar is big, modern and bright. Its size makes it perfect for groups and the sheer volume of taps means there will be something for everyone. Generally, their 20 taps consist of 13 of their own beers and 7 guest collaborations. This month, they have a Tzatziki Sour from Liverpool based Mad Hatter and a Cider from Hallet's of Wales. Located on Echequor Row, Fierce Bar is the perfect place to escape the house this Christmas!
Dundee - 71 Brewing Tap Room
When 71 Brewing opened in 2016 they became Dundee's first new brewery for 50 years! Crazy. Located on the city's Bellfied Estate, they have converted a 72000 sq ft former industrial warehouse into a state of the art brewery. Alongside their fermenting tanks and canning line is one of Scotland's neatest little taprooms. Open 7 days a week, the chilled out taproom features 10 taps with a mixture of local and export beers. There is also a pub quiz every Wednesday if that's your kind of thing!
Glasgow - Clockwork
Glasgow's Southside is home to Clockwork Beer Co, a microbrewery and pub. All of their beers are brewed right on the premises and the pub provides a great place to sit and relax with family and friends. As well as a stellar drinks offering the pub also has a fantastic food menu as well as a special festive menu for customers visiting in December!
Edinburgh - Salthorse
Down an inconspicuous Old Town side street lies Salthorse. If you're looking for a bar that is warm, cozy and dedicated to great beer then this is the place for you. With 12 lines of keg, over 350 cans and bottles (yes, three hundred and fifty) as well as wine by the glass, you can't really go wrong. If you're looking for a bite to eat, head next door and check out their kitchen in residence Meat:Stack, there you'll be able to swap the turkey for some pretty delicious burgers!
We hope that this Christmas is one to remember, filled with great food, awesome family time and even better beer.
