Do you have a passion and enthusiasm for history and meeting new people? Would you love it even more if you had the chance to create connections over local beer and great stories? This is the perfect opportunity for you.

With guest numbers increasing again, we’re hiring hosts in Aberdeen, Edinburgh, St Andrews and Glasgow who are consistently available at least one Saturday per month. Additional work is available particularly over the summer months.

Previous experience is a bonus but not at all necessary - full training is provided. You’ll be delivering experiences based on a tested format with plenty of room to add your own knowledge, creative flair and personality.

Since 2017, locals and visitors from across the world have been joining ScotBeer’s walking tours and beer tastings to hear the story of Scotland through beer. We’re a small team creating memorable experiences and delivering happiness through storytelling, sightseeing and beer tasting. Take a look at our reviews!

What You’ll Do
  • Deliver memorable walking tours and beer tastings for groups of 2-20 using tested formats
  • Share your own stories and knowledge and actively listen to those of guests to create a tailored and personal experiences
  • Resolve any challenges that may arise during tours by working collaboratively with our venues and operations team to maintain our high guest satisfaction rate.
  • Share your love of your home - its history, architecture and beer!
  • Contribute to our continuous improvement by providing feedback and suggestions

  • Paid training covering storytelling, guest communication and beer tasting so you can host confidently regardless of prior experience
  • Regular tasting sessions with the team to enhance your beer knowledge and trade stories.
  • Flexible schedule. You must be consistently available at least one Saturday per month.
  • A liveable wage starting at £30 per standard 2 hour tour plus tips. Rates increase as you accumulate guest feedback and demonstrate ability to lead larger groups.
What You Will Have
  • Consistent availability at least one Saturday per month
  • Experience hosting or presenting to groups
  • Friendly demeanour with an ability to put people at ease through active listening and open questions
  • Ability to handle the unexpected with ease and grace
  • Track record acting in a professional manner (punctuality and reliability)
  • Local knowledge - not necessarily beer related!
  • Ability to stand for long periods of time (c 2 hours) and walk distances of 1-2 miles
  • Willingness to familiarise yourself with our booking app to manage guest communications
Nice To Have
  • Previous experience working in the food and beverage, tourism, or hospitality industry.
  • Knowledge of your local beer scene and history
  • Experience travelling, studying or working in other countries
  • A second language is always an advantage (French and German)
